We daydreamed about ‘accidentally’ falling into the gorgeous Croatian lakes but it didn’t happen. There might have been more chance of a mishap if we’d started earlier but we missed the crowds by arriving at 5pm so had an easy stroll around the upper lakes.
The 5.1 km walk we chose started with a short ferry ride across the lake at the National Park’s ‘entrance two’. As the water is protected no swimming or fishing is allowed which means it’s crystal clear and the fish are flourishing. The walk is along wooden paths and mud tracks, alongside and over water. At the end of the trail everyone takes a bus back to the start. It was all inclusive for 150 kuna (@20 euro) each for our afternoon entry.
We tried to give the ‘entrance one’ walk a go the next morning but the queue put us off so we grabbed cherry strudels and headed south to the beach at Omis.
(Oh, and there are warnings about bears but no one seemed that worried.)
Ooh those roots are amazing!
