Mojojack's Travels

Look above and beyond the souvenir shops, Irish pubs and restaurants to see the glory of the old town of Dubrovnik. Look a bit harder and you’ll see reminders of some of its hard days like the pitmarks of bullet holes from when the world heritage town was besieged in 1991. Here are some photos from our three-day stay this week. The second photo is a map of the damage from the siege. The poster is on the home of a man who said his house was bombed three times in one morning but his family including 99-year old-mother fled and survived. don’t forget!whoops sorry patron saint St Blaise for chopping off your head on the statue above the gate.

  1. Love the photos Jac. Also love the commentary you provide, and the fancy bits on the buildings are amazing. Makes me want to go over there, as I was last in Europe in 1970. A lifetime ago.
